Polaris RazorIn 1998, I purchased two 600 Yamaha Grizzlys, which was a huge upgrade from my 1975 Cushman Trackster. The Cushman Trackster will always be my #1 favorite very rough going all-terrain vehicle. I then progressed to the 2002 Independent rear axle Yamaha 660 Grizzly and then to the Kawasaki 2005 Brute Force 750. Well, it has been 38 years in a wheelchair and 12 years of riding a quad with lots of great memories and a few not so good. I will still be riding my quads, but with both shoulders failing. I’m really enjoying my 2008 Polaris Razor. I knew when I bought the Razor I would immediately covert the sxs to a center steer and single center bucket seat. I’m a large guy and this is a sport sxs of which I had no intention of seating on the outside edge when faced with rough and steep terrain by myself. I always wanted a larger quad-like machine that would have a 12” lower seat and 20” longer wheelbase. The bonus with the Razor is a roll cage, custom bucket seat that accommodates my roho cushion, four point shoulder harness and custom arm rest. Trying hard to keep it stock, but have added a winch, front bumper, hard top, rear view mirror, steering speed knob, hand controls and custom entry from wheelchair to seat. What I didn’t realize was the loss of balance going from motorcycle handle bar steering to left hand on the hand controls and right hand on the steering wheel/speed knob. Adding the four point shoulder harness and custom arm rest put a quick fix to the lack of balance, being a T7 paraplegic. I would like to think this is as close to a Honda Pilot as I’m going to get with having the benefit of four wheel drive! The stock Razor lacks short turning and lower ground clearance of the larger utility quads, but the comfort of the bucket seat, lower center of gravity, roll cage protection, longer wheelbase, and same 50” wide wheelbase, makes for a much safer ride for this getting older paraplegic.

Looking forward to putting Dave (C5) quadriplegic in the Razor. This will be his first attempt behind a steering wheel since his accident. My Cushman Trackster, Argo Conquest and Bigfoot, (3) quads and the Razor are all available for you to come drive or ride.

Look forward to sharing a new experience with you!
